For more than three decades, Broxie Pone has dedicated her life to serving the people of Cumberland County through education, faith, and community leadership. A lifelong Fayetteville resident and proud graduate of Cumberland County Schools, she is committed to ensuring every student has access to a quality education and every family has a voice in their public schools.
Broxie attended Walker #10, Elizabeth Cashwell Elementary, Hope Mills Junior High, and graduated with honors from South View Senior High School. She continued her education at Methodist College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. She later returned to Methodist to complete her teacher certification in Social Studies for grades 6–12. Her commitment to lifelong learning also includes coursework in banking and counseling, a North Carolina Real Estate License, and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership (K–12 Principal Licensure) from Gardner-Webb University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
As a retired educator, Broxie devoted 30 years to Cumberland County classrooms, inspiring students and helping prepare them for success. She also served as an Assistant Principal Administrative Intern at Hope Mills Middle School, where she worked alongside teachers, administrators, students, and families to create positive learning environments. Her experience gives her a firsthand understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing public education today. Even in retirement, Broxie continues to serve the community as a licensed Realtor, helping families achieve homeownership and invest in the future of Cumberland County.
Faith and service have always been at the center of Broxie’s life. She answered her call to ministry in 2008 and currently serves as the Pastor of Moore’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Stedman, North Carolina. Throughout her ministry, she has led initiatives that strengthen families, encourage women, and serve neighbors in need. She founded Girlfriend’s Café, a ministry dedicated to empowering women of all ages, and continues to serve as Secretary and Financial Officer for Touching Lives Street Ministry, which provides outreach and support to individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Broxie has been married to her high school sweetheart, Gerald D. Pone, for more than 40 years. Together they have built a family rooted in faith, education, and service, including two children and two grandchildren.
Today, Broxie is seeking to continue her lifelong commitment to Cumberland County by serving on the Cumberland County Board of Education. Her campaign is built on listening, collaboration, and putting students first. She believes that strong schools are built through strong partnerships among educators, families, community leaders, and students.
Broxie is running to ensure that every decision is guided by experience, integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the success of every child in Cumberland County.
